The Party Girl started as a place to share all the things I dreamed up for parties with my friends, and it's grown into something so much more. Now we have a Shop with everything you need to celebrate - cupcake wrappers, cake toppers, confetti, cards, and more! And we're packaging our Pinterest-party obsessions To Go, with our Party Boxes - an entire party in a box for all sorts of occasions!
How did you get started?
I've always gone a little overboard - like, in everything I do. When I was 13 I wanted to repaint my bedroom and I put together an entire presentation, including bristol board with different design options and actual fabric samples (fabric samples! why!?). My parents were super overwhelmed, they were just like "oh...sure..."
So of course when I started entertaining I took everything to the next level. We had an 80s party in university and I made a full wall of Pacman out of poster board and found old Jane Fonda VHS tapes (and a VCR, because it wasn't THAT long ago) at Value Village and I think that was the start of it.
Now whenever someone comes over I find some way to make a banner or cupcake toppers (because there's always cupcakes at my house), and it was hard to justify that to my boyfriend, so I started The Party Blog as a place to keep it all. A party scrapbook. Then I started getting emails or Facebook messages from people who said they loved reading about how I made these little parties, and I realized there were other party-obsessed people out there who were basically my Internet soulmates. Everything has just escalated from there.
What is one thing people may be surprised to find out about you?
I grew up in a super small town in cottage country. People ALWAYS say they think I'm such a city person, and my boyfriend and I recently bought a house in a small town about an hour outside Toronto and everybody has been so surprised. But I actually am very small town at heart - I've already befriended the guy that delivers all my Amazon packages! Actually maybe that's embarrassing to admit...
What is your personal favourite piece out of your own collection and why?
I love our bridesmaid ask cards! It's actually my new favourite because my bestie just got engaged and now I'm seeing all the possibilities - I'm already coming up with more!
Who/what inspires you?
Oh my gosh - what a tough question! I want to say something profound but I suck at that. I think honestly my friends are my biggest inspiration. They're all super cool - they've travelled everywhere and lived in tents all summer in the BC mountains and built schools in South America and climbed Machu Picchu. And I'm just like "okay guys, well I made 50 confetti poppers today!" but they all love me anyways. Sometimes I get creative burn out and I'll just refresh with them for a bit and I feel ready to dive back in!
What can guests at ReBash expect to see from you at the event?
SO MUCH FUN! I've been brainstorming like crazy and have a ton of new ideas for party supplies - and I'm working on creating a new and improved Party Box, one that's more compact but still has all the necessities for the perfect party!
