Our minds were totally blown when we were told that the beautiful creations you see here are all made out of paper! Dominika from The Lily Guild takes your average paper flowers and totally elevates them. She will be selling and displaying her amazing fleurs at ReBash, so brides, grooms and party planners everywhere take note!
Tell us about your business/craft.
The Lily Guild creates beautiful, intricate and creative paper blossoms. Each bloom is inspired by nature and translated into the language of paper with love and care. Blossoms are created with hand-dyed paper and assembled petal by petal.
How did you get started?
The Lily Guild was started as my passion project. As a trained florist, I’d been working with flowers for several years and was recognized for my talent by being selected Toronto Life’s Best Niche Florist in 2015. I happened on paper flowers when I was looking for just the right present for my Mom. I totally fell in love with the process, and the results.
It’s been a whirlwind since then, and an unexpected joy.
What is your personal favourite piece out of your own collection and why?
Bridal bouquets are one of my favorites to make and ogle. One of my favorite pieces was the first one I ever made. Peonies, Anemone, Ranunculus, Magnolia and tiny, delicate Seeded Eucalyptus give this piece a real glow. Working with a Bride to create a bouquet of her dreams is, well, a dream. Since all flowers are available all year round in any colour, the possibilities are endless.
Who/what inspires you?
Each flower is inspired first and foremost by nature. I like to play with texture, colour, and size, to create my interpretations of nature’s perfection. Besides nature, I’m inspired by a vibrant community of paper flower artists scattered across the globe, and brought together by Instagram. I’m also deeply moved and inspired by the floral designs of Amy Merrick, Nicolette Owen and others working in a wild, Dutch Masters inspired style.
What can guests at ReBash expect to see from you at the event?
The Lily Guild does custom work for unique Brides looking for something a little out of the ordinary. This year at ReBash, you’ll find us with a table full of sample arrangements, bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages and flower crowns.
Come and check out The Lily Guild on May 15, 2016. We are selling Early Bird Tickets until Feb. 29th!
