Alicia from Alicia's Infinity creates a treasure trove of vintage jewelry and watercolour stationery - two gorgeous elements of a truly unique wedding or event! We love her original spin on reworking vintage jewelry to modernize it while maintaining a grand old-fashioned lustre. Alicia will be showcasing and selling her one-of-a-kind work at ReBash on May 15, 2016!
Tell us about your business/craft.
My business is called Alicia's Infinity and I create watercolor illustrated stationery for weddings and everyday occasions, as well as handmade, one of a kind jewelry using vintage
How did you get started?
I have been working as a freelance illustrator ever since I graduated college, but I started focusing on weddings after my own wedding! I used my design and painting skills to create my own wedding paper goods and jewellery for myself and my bridesmaids, and I fell in love with the process and the idea of being small part of a couple's big day! I love being able to create the perfect visual representation of their wedding and give them that keepsake to put in their scrapbook or memory box! I also am a vintage lover and treasure hunter! I frequent antique markets and estate sales and love to put little, special elements of that into my jewellery pieces. Things like vintage keys, buttons, brass tags and lace are among my favorite items to incorporate into jewellery. It's especially perfect for weddings as it can be the bride's "something old!"
What is one thing people may be surprised to find out about you?
Hmm, that's a tough one! People may be surprised to find out that I'm a soccer and hockey player! I may give off an artsy, sweet vibe, but I'm pretty competitive on the field and rink ;)
What is your personal favourite piece out of your own collection and why?
It feels impossible for me to pick a favorite item as everything I create is one of a kind, unique and special! I would have to say for stationery, my favorite theme is my "Mauve peony and succulent" theme. I'm a sucker for succulents, hehe! In terms of my jewellery, I have a soft spot for vintage keys, so any necklace that has a key on it is my first choice!
Who/what inspires you?
I am inspired by my surroundings; from the elements of nature and antique treasures to fashion forward designs and patterns
