Today we have the pleasure of introducing the uber-talented duo, Michele and April, of Field Day Design.
We asked Field Day Design a few questions, just to get to know them a bit better. Read on to see what they are all about!
FD: We offer design, styling and coordination for weddings and events. Our aesthetic and skills focus on the handmade side of things. We do everything from prop sourcing, backdrop building, hand lettering, flower arranging and all things in between.
FD: We met about 10 years ago at U of T where we were both completing art degrees, and since then we have worked together in so many different ways! After graduation we exhibited in gallery shows together, showcasing large scale textile and paper installations. We then ended up both being hired as display artists when Anthropologie opened its first two Canadian stores. For a few years we worked side by side building window displays and creating retail whimsy. We both got married during this time, and designed, planned and executed our own weddings. We worked together to make each others wedding beautiful, unique and seamless. We loved the process so much that we knew a business could be born from this shared passion.
FD: We absolutely love the process of brainstorming ideas and concepts with a couple in the early stages of their wedding planning, and then bringing all the details to life for their day. It's so amazing to see a couple walk into the venue and take it all in in that moment!
FD: Our favourite events that we have worked on are probably each others weddings! It's an amazing feeling to be a part of putting together such an important day for someone close to you, and because of this we love to involve a couples friends and families in the process if possible. One thing we love to do is set up a sort of 'DIY' prep party for our clients where we provide all the materials and instructions necessary and they are able to relax and easily complete one of their decor projects with their bridal party or friends and family! This was definitely inspired by how much we enjoyed collaborating on our days!
