Mai from I Love Puffy Love takes your average fluffy mallow and breathes some serious fun into it!!  We've been on a bit of a yummy tirade recently with our vendor profiles - did we mention that you'll be able to sample many of these goodies at ReBash?? Let's learn more about Mai...

RB: Tell us what you do.
ILPL: I make handcrafted gourmet marshmallows.

RB: How did you start?
ILPL: I started by making homemade marshmallows and refining the recipe to make the puffiest and delicious marshmallow.
Picture
RB: Where do you get your inspiration from?
ILPL: I got my inspiration from a camping trip while roasting marshmallows. I wondered how they were made and was set out to make my own. When I did finally make them, I realized they were nothing like the packaged ones but even better! I knew then I had to share what I've discovered.

RB: If there was one crazy thing you could make completely out of marshmallow what would it be?
ILPL: If there is one crazy thing I could make out of marshmallow, it would be the best edible wedding gown.
Picture
RB: What can guests at ReBash expect from you at the market?
ILPL: Guests can expect free samples, wedding favour ideas and new flavours!

Okay you guys, you heard it here first!  Get your tickets to ReBash to try some of these DELISH bites from I Love Puffy Love! We're big snackers over here at ReBash, so we just fell in love with Mary from The Midnight Snack Co.! A super fun concept to bring your next event to the next-next level! And she'll be at ReBash...Are you ready to get your snack on?

RB: What is the Midnight Snack Co.?
TMSC: The Midnight Snack Co. is a catering and snack company in Toronto that focuses on small-batch production for special events. MSC works directly with clients to create the perfect menu for their special day. We do anything from cake or donut deliveries to hungry customers, to full weddings, party favours, corporate events, and more.
Picture
RB: How did you begin and what was the very first thing you cooked?
TMSC: I began the Midnight Snack Co. on a bit of a whim. I had left my position as pastry chef for Jamie Kennedy a few months prior and was beginning to think of ways to involve myself in the food community without working in a kitchen at a restaurant again. I began making snacks for my friend's bar Pharmacy Bar, and then got accepted to Food Networks Donut Showdown, and that's when I started to realize that this could actually work. I ended up winning the show and had a bit of money to invest in the business, as they say... the rest is history.

The first thing I cooked was definitely dinner for me and my family growing up. From about age 10 and onwards  my mom would call me from work every day with instructions, and talk me through preparing dinner every night. I still don't know why my older sister wasn't in charge, truthfully I loved it, I loved being in charge of dinner, and the look on my mom's face when she came home from work and everything was ready for her.
Picture
RB: If you could only choose 3 exotic ingredients (other than your basic flour, sugar, etc.) to cook with for the rest of your life, what would they be?
TMSC: Fresh and Dried Edible Flowers, Seashore Honey, Beautiful Sprouts.
I really love working with beautiful things, I always want to be able to work with fresh flowers, amazing honey, and tender shoot and sprouts.

Picture
RB: What has been your favourite project to work on?
TMSC: My favourite project so far has got to be the launch for Midnight Snack Co. at the Junction City Music Hall. I got to come up with a menu that captured so much nostalgia and light-hearted fun! I had a make-your-own ice cream sandwich bar, a pickle station, fresh potato chip display, donuts everywhere, I branded Midnight Snack Co. pizza boxes and had a late-night pizza party at midnight, a three-tiered birthday cake, as well as take-home chocolates that matched the business cards. It was silly and fun, everyone had a huge smile on their face.

RB: Please let our guests know what they can expect from you at ReBash!
TMSC: At ReBash I will be bringing along some of our famous donuts to snack on, as well as some retail goodies that serve as samples for take-home gifts. Feel free to come say hi and we can snack on donuts and talk about your bash.

Thanks so much Mary for taking us behind the scenes at the Midnight Snack Co.! We hope you can join us at ReBash to meet this lovely lady in person and to sample some of the goodness she will be bringing with her... Those donuts though!!!

The fabulous duo Robin and Shannon are the creators of Hoopla Event Design & Styling, and like us, are creative entrepreneurs with a love for crafty DIY goodness. They happen to be moms to littles also! They really do it all and are total inspirations for us at ReBash! Check out what they have to say below and feast on your eyes on some serious decor eye-candy...

RB: Tell us about Hoopla Event Design & Styling! What do you do, how did it begin?
HEDS: We are a Markham-based creative events company. We use our creativity, craftiness and penchant for everything pretty to create hoopla for both personal and corporate events and occasions. With over 10 years in floral design and two lifetimes of crafting, we can deliver a unique, handmade, totally rockin' event from invitations to signage, floral arrangements to floral crowns, unique backdrops to full-on installations, and everything in between. We create hoopla!

Hoopla all began with a need to get out of our corporate jobs and finally do something in the creative field. Our husbands are best friends, so we've known each other for years. One day, as we were complaining about our jobs, we just said to each other, "We need to do something creative. And we are going to be really good at it."  With backgrounds in both events and florals, event design was just a given. We came up with a plan, got some clients (all family and friends to begin with) and started a website. Then it just happened!

RB: What is your favourite part of doing what you're doing? Not so favourite part?
HEDS: We love the planning stage. After meeting with our clients and understanding their needs, we go back to the drawing board, so to speak and come up with some wicked ideas. Our next favourite thing is the install. There's not a better feeling than creating something you came up with and it looking so good. Our not so favourite part, as with most creative professionals we're guessing, is the whole business side - accounting, taxes - numbers aren't our thing.

RB: Which crafting supply would you each want on a desert island?
HEDS: Shannon - glue gun! Robin - pinking shears!

RB: Tell us about one of your favourite projects (each or together).
HEDS: Last year, we worked on a sweet 16 birthday party. It was straight out of MTV's Super Sweet Sixteen. We covered the whole ceiling in disco balls, pinatas, frilly garlands and lanterns. It was heaven! Also, we just recently did a baby's 100th day circus celebration and we loved every minute of it! There were handmade marquee lights, blow up circus animals and lots of red and white striped fabric. It was different and it was super fun!

RB: What can guests expect to see from you at ReBash?
HEDS: Over the past three years we have collected a lot of stuff! Since floral design is a big part of our business, we have a ton of vases - antique, modern, clear, opaque, etc. The rest of the stuff is pure fun - disco balls, pinatas, flamingoes and lots more!

Thank you to Robin and Shannon for insight into the gorgeous world of Hoopla!  We are super excited (and you should be too!) to see what they have in store for us at ReBash.  Don't miss out on the fun, purchase your tickets online to automatically be entered into our Super Awesome Raffle Prize! Also..for the first 25 guests to purchase tickets at the door, expect a little surprise in your Goodie Goodie bag from Hoopla Event Design & Styling :).
